Ansar swordsmen are 95% finished. 4-5 figures need "basing" and 4 more need some paint (patches, etc.) The rest are done (spray flat coated 10 figures today). Then it is on to doing Egyptians in 15mm & 25mm. The uniform is very simple, white with black leather and red fez, so doing both sizes at once makes sense.

15mm UPDATE....
Resumed work on my FoW Italian Demolisher Platoon. Finished webbing and rifle stocks. Then I need to paint metal on the rifles, touch-up flesh on the figures and then touch-up the uniform color. After that, they all get a wash (black or black/brown). Then it's off to basing them, spray flat coat and they are DONE!! Next on the FoW list....my Semovente 47/32's and my L6/40 Light Tanks, which I started assembling some time earlier.

Well, the game Con is over, Bruce could not attend (thus the NUTS! game was canceled), so I was free for the Con, President's Day weekend. Played FoW Friday night, a Napoleonic Naval game Saturday and a 28mm Civil War game Sunday. I had a lot of fun. Still, I want to run something at the May Con. Bruce is talking NUTS!, maybe with Nazi Zombies....

My 28mm Ansar swordsmen are coming along as well as the FoW Italian Demolisher Platoon. As soon as the Ansar are done, I plan to work on just the Demolisher Platoon and finish it. The I think I'll do my 28mm and 15mm Egyptian figures at the same time, as the paint jobs are the same and it does not involve white robes with patches (at this time, next group with be the Ansar riflemen). I need to take photos of my figs for Photobucket, so all and sundry can see them.

CALL OF DUTY

I've played it the most and have all of them except CoD 4, which was modern warefare and therefore not my cup of coffee. I just finished re-playing CoD UO again and really enjoyed it. I forgot (or maybe just never watched) the end of the Russian part and the credits. Got me into a WWII skirmish mood. Anyway, for what it's worth, I would rate them as follows for me in terms of enjoyment factor=

While CoD 2 needed some adjustment to run well, more so for multiplayer, I found out what I needed to do on-line and quickly fixed it. CoD WaW just pisses me off in a couple ways. The levels are too short but most of all even though my machine exceeds the minimum required to run the game (I checked at canIrunit.com), it still runs crappy after I have spent some time trying to tweak it to run better. I still run & react as if I am in molassas which makes the game VERY difficult at any level above Basic. I've turned down just about everything and gotten updated drives and the whole sheebang but no luck. And their seems to be nothing on-line to help me this time, other than update drivers (done), get the Patch (done) and update some of my computer (NO). Oh well....there are other games to play out there, but my machine might have trouble with the brand-new ones. Maybe Medal of Honor??

Got my order from WarWeb of more OG Colonials, Dervish on camels, Egyptians & Sikhs. Huzzah! More to paint!!!

Quick update.......

Finished everything I need to run PITS with the list I have. Extras to follow. (Mounted Beja on Camels, Egyptians, etc.) Started on my Italian Demolisher (Pioneer) Platoon. All mounted on sticks, primed, flesh and helmets painted. Included are the 3 Flamethrower teams on extra stands, those figures are Battlefront and the 2 infantry with each FT are Peter Pig (so it's 3 figs/stand).

My 28mm OG Ansar swordsmen are underway. Primed and the white on the robes are now applied. shields are being primed. 3 test figures are being done. They are almost finished.

15mm PITS 1885

Work continues on my 15mm Colonial figures. All the Fuzzy Wuzzies I need to complete my list are 90% done. Mahdists Command stands just need a couple of touch-ups and then spray flatted. DONE. Two more British Command stands are 50% done. I need to take some photos of my guys.

FLAMES OF WAR

After the game at Aero last Friday ( the 9th), I spent some time thinking and reading up on my Bersaglieri on what I can do with them to make them as tough as I can. I was doing better than I thought I was but I felt I wasn't, as I could shot/kill anything. As I mentioned to Mr. Tim, I've done more wargaming in the last 2-3 years than I have in the previous 25 and I have gotten better at dealing with gaming, the winning & losing and trying to use the rules the best I can, etc. After a couple of days of going over weapons, troop types, etc. I think I have a better grasp of what I want and need to do with my army, more-so if we are going to play a campaign using North Africa. I AM THE WEAKEST LINK in the armies, so I have to buff-up to survive the US/British onslaught so the DAK can win the fight (hopefully). I am working on my Semovente 47/32's and the L6/40 Light tanks right now, then it's on to the Demolisher Platoons! It's Passaglia Bombs all around!

THE SWORD & THE FLAME

I have some British to finish (like 8-12 figures) and then 3 mounted Amirs and the first batch of Old Glory Ansar. Need to squeeze them in with all the 15mm Colonial/FoW figures I'm working on. Maybe it's time to make some work trays so I can switch projects easier. I also need to order some 28mm Mahdists on Camels/Horse Cavalry from Old Glory via the War Web.
E-Bay sales are doing well, so I'll have the $$ to order stuff!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009!

Christmas and my back problems (mostly) are over. My German Anti-Tank guns (PaK 38 5cm) for my Italian Army are done. I've started on my L6/40 Light Tanks and Semovente 47/32. I can paint them all at once as all the vehicles are the same color. Then..maybe the Italian 88's or maybe some aircraft....

I found out my list for PITS 1885 wasn't finished so I am working on more Fuzzy-Wuzzies & British & Mahdists Command stands to finish it out. That is nearly done. Then maybe some PP Mahdists mounted on Camels, which I've started but not finished. And I have to work on my 28mm figs as well. I've some Brits 50% done that need finishing. I've done one as a test for using Buff for the leather instead of white and using a Flesh Wash on it to simulate dyed leather (with either Tea or Coffee). I have 2 mounted Amirs ready to be painted. Then get my rifle armed OG Mahdists up & running. Maybe some of the OG Ansar as well. I have to get the machine running up to speed again.

Entry for December 17, 2008

Now that Thanksgiving is over, and I've gotten over the gribblies (and the loss of my cat Sara has gotten better), I've been getting stuff done. My German PaK 38 5.0cm ATG's are almost finished. I did the basing today, and hopefully it will dry and harden by tomorrow. With the very cold & rainy weather of the last 2 days, paint, glue, etc. doesn't like to work well as the temperature's are really low, more so in the evenings. The heater just doesn't help when the night time temp gets down into the 40's.

The nest FoW project will be doing my Italian L6/40 light tanks and Semonvente 47/32's. As the paint job is the same for both, doing them together is the proper thing to do.
My 15mm Colonials are in high gear, painting more Fuzzy-Wuzzies and British Officers to get what I have in shape to play with. Hopefully I can play a game of PITS (Patrols in theSudan 1882) with Harold on Friday. Tried to have a game last Sunday but Denise was sick, so I thought it might not be good for Harold to come by.

I am working on my 28mm figs as well, a group of British Infantry right now. I also have a set of 3 mounted Amirs to do as well.
